Summary
The University of Liverpool is seeking an enthusiastic Postdoctoral Research Associate to join its child neurodevelopment research programme. This part-time (0.7 FTE), fixed-term position until October 2028, will primarily support the Children Growing Up in Liverpool (C-GULL) and Healthy Brains, Healthy Futures (HBHF) programmes, alongside a 0.25 FTE role supporting the international FEVER II study. The successful candidate will contribute to neurodevelopmental assessments, data analysis, and research proposal development within major UK and international studies.

Eligibility/Qualification
- PhD, or close to completion, in psychology, neuroscience, developmental science, medicine, or a related discipline.
- Ideally, experience with standardised neurodevelopmental or behavioural assessment in infants or young children.
- Experience in longitudinal or cohort research, data analysis, research proposal development, global child health, or cross-cultural assessment is advantageous.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and scientific writing skills.
- Ability to work independently within multidisciplinary and international research teams.
- Strong commitment to high-quality research.
- Good Clinical Practice certification, or willingness to undertake this.
Job Description
Role Overview
The Postdoctoral Research Associate will play a key role in the child neurodevelopment research programme, contributing to several high-impact studies:
- Children Growing Up in Liverpool (C-GULL) & Healthy Brains, Healthy Futures (HBHF):
- Take scientific and methodological responsibility for aspects of the behavioural and developmental assessment programme.
- Support quality assurance of neurodevelopmental assessments.
- Develop assessment manuals and standard operating procedures.
- Train and calibrate assessors.
- Contribute to the design of behavioural and developmental assessments for future follow-up.
- Analyse C-GULL data.
- Contribute to publications.
- Develop new research and funding proposals based on the C-GULL/HBHF platform.
- FEVER II Study (0.25 FTE):
- Provide technical support for neurodevelopmental and neurocognitive assessments in Malawi, Zambia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
- Assist with translation and piloting of assessment tools.
- Conduct staff training.
- Ensure quality assurance and harmonisation of assessment approaches across study sites.
Salary Information
£39,906 – £46,049 per annum (pro rata). Applicants awaiting PhD award will be appointed at Grade 6, spine point 30, with an increase to Grade 7, spine point 31 upon written confirmation of PhD award.
