Research Area

Nanomedicine with a focus on nanoparticle formulation and drug delivery systems for both small molecules and nucleic acids.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • PhD/DPhil in bioengineering, biomedical sciences, chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, or a related field (completed or near completion).
  • Experience in the formulation of lipid or polymer nanoparticle systems for nucleic acid or small molecule delivery.
  • Proficient in nanoparticle characterization techniques (e.g., DLS, FCS, flow cytometry).
  • Strong understanding of structure–function relationships in therapeutic delivery systems.
  • Experience in cell-based transfection assays and delivery evaluation.
  • Proven track record in publications with first author publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Job Description

The successful candidate will:

  • Design and optimize lipid and polymer nanoparticle-based nucleic acid or small molecule delivery systems (e.g., LNPs, polyplexes).
  • Perform formulation characterization and stability studies.
  • Conduct in vitro delivery and functional assays.
  • Contribute to translation-focused optimization, including mucosal delivery and scalability.
  • Undertake associated data analysis and interpretation.
  • Manage individual research activities and participate in multidisciplinary collaborations within the Stevens Group and with external partners.
