Postdoctoral Researcher – Chemical Biologist: The HOLTHUIS LAB invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher to work on innovative chemical approaches to probe the biology of lipids and membranes. This position is part of the Z1 project within the SFB 1557 consortium, funded by the DFG, focusing on the functional plasticity of cellular membrane networks.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD degree in synthetic organic chemistry or chemical biology
  • Broad expertise in organic and synthetic chemistry; practical experience in photochemistry is a plus
  • Strong scientific rigor and motivation for interdisciplinary projects
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken

Job Description:
The successful candidate will design and synthesize lipid analogs with crosslinkable, photoswitchable, and/or photo-labile protective groups. These tools will be utilized to investigate tumor suppressor lipids, map protein-lipid interactions, and visualize lipid trafficking in damaged organelles and wounded cells. Collaboration within the SFB consortium will be essential to achieve project goals.
