Eligibility/Qualification

  • Required:
  • Doctoral degree or equivalent foreign degree in Energy Technology, Building Services, Building Physics, Civil or Architectural Engineering, or a closely related field
  • Expertise in advanced control methods (e.g., Model Predictive Control, adaptive or optimal control), AI, or machine learning
  • Extensive experience in building energy system simulation
  • Strong background in energy system design, optimization, and control
  • Understanding of electricity and district heating pricing structures
  • Strong programming skills for implementing optimization and control algorithms
  • Experience in teaching and supervision at bachelor’s and master’s levels
  • Proficient communication skills in English (written and spoken)
  • Preferred:
  • Doctoral degree obtained within the last three years
  • Strong publication record in energy systems, control, and optimization
  • Experience with district heating/cooling integration, thermal energy storage, and renewable energy systems
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in international research environments

Job Description

The successful candidate will develop and apply advanced control strategies to enhance the design, operation, and cost-effectiveness of building- and district-level energy systems. This research will aim to reduce operating costs, mitigate peak demand, and improve flexibility and resilience while integrating renewable energy sources, thermal storage, and heat pump technologies. Responsibilities include developing models and simulations, contributing to high-quality publications, and collaborating with international research groups and industry partners.
