Postdoctoral Researcher in Data Science: The Center for Quantitative Genetics and Genomics (QGG) at Aarhus University is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Data Science with a focus on developing statistical and machine learning methods for genomic research in admixed populations. This is a full-time position starting on 1 September 2024, with a contract duration of two years and a potential extension based on performance.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD degree in data science, statistics, applied mathematics, or a related field with a strong statistical and scientific programming background.
  • Theoretical background in machine learning and statistics.
  • Experience in developing computational tools in Julia, Python, or R, supported by related scientific publication records.
  • Effective communication skills in written and spoken English.
  • Good interpersonal skills, scientific self-motivation, and the ability to work in a diverse research group.

Job Description:

  • Develop statistical and machine learning methods to exploit ancestry patterns over the genome of individuals.
  • Develop methods for the simulation and analysis of complex gene regulatory network structures.
  • Create software tools for data analysis and simulations.
  • Disseminate research results through international conferences and scientific publications.
  • Organize and participate in short courses.
  • Collaborate with industry partners to apply research findings in practical scenarios.
