Eligibility / Qualification
Applicants should have:
- A doctoral degree, for example in Physics, Engineering, Medical Engineering or a related field.
- The doctoral degree must not have been completed more than five years before accepting the position, calculated as a net period excluding eligible interruptions such as parental leave or military service.
- Good spoken and written English-language skills.
- Previous knowledge and experience in magnetic resonance imaging, pulse-sequence development and low-field MRI.
Desirable qualifications include:
- Electronics experience, including RF electronics and MRI coil or gradient-coil design.
- Programming skills in MATLAB, C/C++ or Python.
- Experience with manufacturing techniques such as 3-D printing.
- MRI image-reconstruction experience, including nonuniform FFT or compressive sensing.
- Strong publication record.
- Experience supervising students.
Job Description
The successful candidate will work within a Research Council of Finland consortium project developing low-field (~50 mT) MRI technology. Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and constructing an open-source, open-hardware low-field MRI device.
- Implementing and testing software, particularly MRI pulse sequences.
- Developing and carrying out applications using low-field MRI.
- Collaborating with national and international research institutions and companies.
- Publishing research results in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
- Contributing to the acquisition and implementation of externally funded research projects.
- Mentoring and supervising PhD, Bachelor’s and Master’s students and interns.
- Participating in scientific collaborations and, where appropriate, teaching activities.
Salary & Benefits
The salary follows the Finnish universities’ salary system. The position is based on job requirement level 5, with a personal salary component of 6–50%. The initial total salary is approximately €3,985–€4,190 per month.
