🎓 Eligibility / Qualification
Required:
- Ph.D. in Computer Science, Biomedical Informatics, Data Science, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Bioinformatics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related STEM field.
- Demonstrated experience developing AI/ML models for biomedical applications.
- Strong programming skills in Python and/or R.
- Experience with Git/GitHub and collaborative software development.
- Experience working in Linux and high-performance computing (HPC) environments.
- Evidence of scholarly productivity through peer-reviewed publications.
Preferred:
- Experience applying AI/ML to diabetes, metabolic disease, immunology, or related biomedical fields.
- Expertise in digital/computational pathology, whole-slide imaging, or quantitative microscopy.
- Experience integrating genomics, transcriptomics, spatial transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, imaging, and EHR data.
- Knowledge of PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, Scikit-learn, Pandas, NumPy, and SciPy.
- Familiarity with CNNs, GNNs, transformers, foundation models, and LLMs.
- Experience developing reproducible biomedical software and AI workflows.
- Grant-writing/funding experience and mentoring experience.
💼 Job Description
The successful candidate will develop and apply innovative AI, machine learning, and deep-learning methods to address complex biomedical questions related to diabetes. Key responsibilities include:
- Developing computational approaches for diabetes prevention, prediction, and treatment.
- Designing tools to integrate imaging, genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, metabolomic, and clinical datasets.
- Applying AI to whole-slide images, microscopy, spatial transcriptomics, and EHR data.
- Developing scalable software applications and reproducible computational workflows.
- Contributing to research on AI-enabled therapeutic discovery and precision medicine.
- Collaborating with clinicians, computational scientists, engineers, statisticians, and laboratory investigators.
- Preparing manuscripts, conference presentations, and competitive grant applications.
- Mentoring graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, research staff, and trainees.
- Working with advanced computing infrastructure, including HiPerGator.
