Postdoctoral Researcher in Quantum Circuits: Chalmers University of Technology invites applications for a postdoctoral position in optimizing the compilation of quantum circuits on noisy quantum hardware. This role is part of QuantumStack, a 5-year project funded by the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research, integrated with the Wallenberg Centre for Quantum Technology (WACQT). The successful candidate will contribute to the development of a full software stack for programming quantum computers and help advance Sweden’s quantum computing capabilities.

Postdoctoral Researcher in Compilation of Quantum Circuits on Noisy Quantum Hardware

Location: Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Required:
    • PhD in Physics, Computer Science, or a related field (must be obtained before employment begins)
    • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English
    • Proficiency in high-level programming languages such as Python or C
    • Experience in machine learning
  • Desired:
    • Experience in quantum computing, particularly in quantum circuit compilation
    • Collaborative attitude with the ability to work independently and in teams
    • Strong problem-solving, analytical skills, self-motivation, and attention to detail

Job Description:

  • Develop and optimize compilation methods for quantum circuits on noisy quantum hardware.
  • Conduct both analytical and numerical research in quantum circuit optimization.
  • Collaborate with experimentalists to test and validate developed methods.
  • Contribute to research projects related to mapping logical qubits, reducing extra operations, and optimizing circuit compression.
  • Integrate machine learning techniques for improving quantum compilation strategies.
  • Utilize information on qubit and gate quality for performance optimization.
  • Supervise PhD and master’s students working in related areas.
