Eligibility/Qualification
- A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree in Production Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field, with a focus on machining or manufacturing processes, obtained within the last three years.
- Documented research expertise in surface texture control and precision machining, specifically related to advanced manufacturing.
- In-depth knowledge of machining processes such as hard turning, high-speed milling, and gear manufacturing.
- Experience with advanced 3D surface metrology techniques (e.g., WLI, FV, CLSM, stylus profilometer).
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, since it is used within the work environment.
- Proven experience in publishing scientific research in peer-reviewed journals.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a research environment with industrial collaboration in the automotive or aerospace sectors.
- Previous work in computational modeling of material removal and surface generation processes.
- Strong communication and project management skills.

Job Description
The primary objective of this position is to conduct in-depth experimental and theoretical research on the control and characterization of surface integrity in high-performance machining processes. The successful candidate will explore the interdependencies of surface roughness/waviness parameters and their impact on component performance in powertrain applications. Responsibilities will include linking machining parameters with resulting surface characteristics and utilizing state-of-the-art 3D metrology techniques for surface assessment. The role involves collaboration with international and industrial partners to translate research into practical solutions and may include teaching at various academic levels.
