Postdoctoral Researcher in the ATLAS Group: Nikhef, the national institute for subatomic physics in the Netherlands, is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join the ATLAS group. This position will focus on the global optimization of diHiggs measurements, a key area of research following the discovery of the Higgs boson.
Designation
Postdoctoral Researcher
Research Area
High-energy physics, specifically diHiggs production and machine learning optimization in particle physics.
Location
Nikhef, Amsterdam, Netherlands
Eligibility/Qualification
- An (almost) completed PhD degree in high-energy physics.
- Strong track record in data analysis.
- Good software skills.
- Several years of research experience in experimental particle physics.
- Significant experience in the application of machine learning algorithms in data selection.
Job Description
The successful candidate will:
- Perform end-to-end analysis and optimization of all tunable selection criteria for all two-Higgs decay signatures.
- Utilize a machine-learned surrogate model for computationally tractable optimization and validate results with traditional likelihood models.
- Develop high-gain optimization strategies beyond traditional methods for the ongoing Run-3 analyses.
- Collaborate closely with fellow postdocs and PhD students in the Nikhef diHiggs group focusing on combined interpretation of Run-3 diHiggs measurements.
How to Apply
Qualified applicants are encouraged to apply by filling in the provided application template. Be prepared to upload:
- A short cover letter.
- A curriculum vitae.
- Contact details for at least three referees who can provide letters of recommendation.
Applications should indicate the specific position of interest in the cover letter.
