Postdoctoral Researcher Opening: The Department of Chemistry at The Chinese University of Hong Kong is seeking a highly motivated and talented Postdoctoral Researcher in Computational Chemistry/Machine Learning. This role is part of Professor Xinglong Zhang’s newly formed research team, beginning in October 2024. The successful candidate will engage in projects that blend computational chemistry and machine learning, as well as software development.

Eligibility/Qualification(i) PhD in chemistry, physics, computer science, or related discipline (or will be conferred one within 3 months of start date); (ii) Proficiency in Python; (iii) Good communication and writing skills; (iv) Ability to work independently and as part of a team; (v) Experience in computational chemistry, molecular modeling, and/or machine learning techniques is preferred.

Job Description

The successful candidate is expected to:

  • Conduct research as the primary responsibility.
  • Work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI).
  • Publish research findings in high-impact journals.
  • Co-supervise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Collaborate with department colleagues to integrate computational and experimental approaches in chemical research.

Salary: Salary will be commensurate with the applicant’s qualifications and experience. The appointment will initially be made on a contract basis for up to one year, renewable subject to performance and mutual agreement.
