Postdoctoral Researcher – Pediatric Endocrinology: The Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) is seeking a dedicated and skilled Postdoctoral Researcher to join the Max McGee Diabetes Research Center within the Girdhar lab. This role centers on exploring environmental factors contributing to Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) and developing therapeutic interventions that may modify these factors. Eligibility/Qualification

  • Educational Background: PhD in a scientific field (e.g., immunology, microbiology, synthetic biology) or MD.
  • Experience: No prior postdoctoral experience required.
  • Skills: Strong foundation in immunology and microbiology; experience with molecular biology methods and animal handling preferred.

Job Description

The successful candidate will:

  • Plan, design, and execute complex research studies and protocols.
  • Participate in discovery projects and coordinate research study activities.
  • Oversee the organization, analysis, and synthesis of data findings.
  • Prepare scientific reports and manuscripts for publication.
  • Engage in meetings with the principal investigator and research staff to interpret data and refine methodologies.
  • Maintain laboratory supplies and track orders.
  • Potentially supervise laboratory personnel, including training and directing daily tasks.

Development and Growth Plan (Year 1) includes:

  • Completing required training and developing an Individual Development Plan (IDP).
  • Leading experimental projects independently by the end of the first year.
  • Publishing two first-author papers within the first 24 months.
  • Participating in grant writing workshops and presenting findings at conferences.
