Research Area

Biology of Aging. Current projects include:

  • Role of Peroxisomes in Healthy Aging: Utilizing C. elegans lifespan assays, multi-omics analysis, and high-resolution microscopy.
  • Role of Lipid Metabolism in Aging: Using cell culture and C. elegans models to study dietary lipids’ effect on organelle function and longevity.
  • Novel Projects: Opportunities to develop new hypotheses and collaborative mechanistic directions in healthy aging.

Boston, Massachusetts (Hybrid)

Eligibility / Qualifications

  • Education: A doctoral degree in biology/geroscience, molecular biology, nutrition, lipid metabolism, bioinformatics, biochemistry, physiology, or a related discipline.
  • Technical Proficiency: Solid foundation in either microscopy or quantitative data analysis and working with multi-omics data sets. Strong proficiency in C. elegans work or tissue-culture-based work (training available for C. elegans if bringing strong tissue-culture expertise).
  • Skills: Enthusiastic problem solver with a self-starter mentality. Strong written and verbal communication abilities capable of producing multiple first-author papers annually. High attention to detail in record-keeping.
  • Research Abilities: Capable of conducting self-directed research while effectively collaborating within interdisciplinary teams.
  • Preferred: Experience working in interdisciplinary teams.

Job Description / Responsibilities

  • Analyze data and draft manuscripts related to multi-omics datasets, microscopy, and lifespan studies in C. elegans.
  • Lead projects to produce first-author publications and contribute to independent fellowship submissions and collaborative studies.
  • Work closely with interdisciplinary collaborators (informatics, aging scientists, nutritionists).
  • Actively participate in group meetings and larger multidisciplinary projects.
  • Assist with grant writing and progress reporting for research funding.
  • Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and safely handle hazardous materials as required.
