Research Area
Advanced structural biology focusing on cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM), cryo-ET, and molecular modeling.
The core research focuses on Structural Biology, specifically utilizing cutting-edge cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) techniques, including single-particle analysis and molecular modeling. Expertise or solid knowledge in cryo-electron tomography (cryo-ET) is highly ideal.
Eligibility & Qualification Requirements
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Education: A PhD in structural biology, biophysics, biochemistry, or a related discipline. An additional degree in bioinformatics is a significant advantage.
- International Experience: A minimum of 6 months of research experience gained outside your country of origin, alongside at least 6 months of experience in an international research environment.
- Publications: A proven track record of publishing in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals. Strong preference will be given to candidates with first-author or joint first-author publications in prestigious journals (e.g., the Nature portfolio).
- Technical Skills: * Advanced knowledge of cryo-EM (single-particle analysis) and molecular modeling.
- Basic programming skills in Python and experience working in Unix/Linux environments, including High-Performance Computing (HPC) systems.
- Ability to produce high-quality biological data visualizations to top-tier journal standards.
- Broad knowledge of modern methods in proteomics, transcriptomics, light microscopy, and cell biology (e.g., immunology, neuroscience); experience with iPS cell culture is ideal.
- Grants & Languages: Experience preparing competitive grant applications (e.g., Horizon Europe) and fluency in English.
- Soft Skills: Advanced organizational skills, mental resilience, a team-oriented mindset, and a proactive problem-solving approach under pressure.
Job Description & Key Responsibilities
- Act as a key specialist to ensure substantive and technical continuity within the research team.
- Maintain, develop, and share specialized technical know-how with team members.
- Support group members and the Principal Investigator (PI) in daily group management.
- Assume organizational responsibilities and manage the team’s workflow smoothly during the PI’s absence.
- Generate high-quality scientific publications and visualize complex large-scale datasets.
