Predoctoral Researcher Position (FPI): The Hospital del Mar Research Institute is seeking a dedicated predoctoral researcher to join the Intercellular Communication in Cancer and Aging research group. The successful candidate will work on the MICROTALK project, which explores the link between disrupted circadian rhythms, microbiota alterations, and Alzheimer’s disease.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Life Sciences.
  • Research training in microbiota, behavioral sciences, chronobiology, and/or mouse physiology.
  • Prior experience with mouse models, programming skills in R, and proficiency in English are highly valued.
  • Admission to a doctoral program is required at the time of hiring, with proof of enrollment to be submitted to the contracting institution.

Job Description:
The successful candidate will participate in the MICROTALK project, which investigates the altered host-microbiota communication and its link to circadian disruption and Alzheimer’s disease. The candidate will engage in:

  • Manipulation of the gut-brain microbiota axis.
  • Behavioral studies and omics techniques including transcriptomics, metabolomics, and microbiome sequencing.
  • Molecular biology techniques such as PCR, western blotting, and histopathology.

Offer:

  • Full-time predoctoral researcher contract in accordance with Article 21 of Law 14/2021 on Science, Technology, and Innovation, and Royal Decree 103/2019.
  • Remuneration as per Royal Decree 103/2019, distributed in 12 monthly payments.
  • Position commencement within three months of final resolution.
