SVNIT, Surat, India invites application for Teaching Assistant Position in SVNIT from eligible and interested candidates

About- The institute is going to conduct walk-in-interview offline mode (written test and interview) for the post of Teaching Assistants (purely on ad-hoc basis for 11 months) in Department of Computer Science and Engineering on 22 December 2021 (Reference: No. DCSE/Contractual- Faculty/800/2021-22 dated 22/11/2021).

Eligibility/Qualification–

Applicants should be superannuated Professors from SVNIT Surat or any other:

• Institute of National Importance
• University
• Reputed Government or Semi-Government institution
• National Research Laboratory

Candidates should have an outstanding academic and research record and meet the following requirements:

• Minimum 10 years of experience as a Professor.
• Successfully guided at least 6 Ph.D. scholars.
• Experience in completing sponsored research projects.
• Published research papers in SCI/SCOPUS-indexed journals.
• Good H-index and citation record.
• Applicants with patents and technology-development experience will be preferred.
• Experience in organizing national and international conferences will be desirable.
• Contributions to emerging technologies, innovation and interdisciplinary research will be advantageous.
• The applicant should ordinarily be 65–70 years of age on the date of nomination.

Job/Position Description- 

Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), Surat, has invited applications from eminent retired Professors/academicians for engagement as Professor Emeritus. The position aims to strengthen teaching, research, innovation, mentoring, sponsored research, and academic excellence at the Institute. Selected candidates will receive an honorarium of ₹1,20,000 per month, along with a contingency grant of up to ₹10,000 per month on a reimbursement basis.

Summary Table

Designation: Professor Emeritus

The Professor Emeritus will be expected to:

• Collaborate with faculty members on research projects.
• Assist in preparing research proposals and obtaining sponsored research.
• Contribute to sponsored research activities.
• Deliver postgraduate and Ph.D. lectures, approximately 30 hours per semester.
• Guide M.Tech. and Ph.D. students.
• Mentor young faculty members.
• Contribute to consultancy activities.
• Support innovation and technology-development initiatives.
• Contribute to the overall academic and institutional development of SVNIT.

Duration of Engagement

The engagement will initially be for one year.

It may be extended annually for a further two years, making the maximum engagement period three years, subject to:

• Satisfactory performance
• Institutional requirements
• Permissible age limit

Honorarium & Benefits

Selected Professor Emeritus will receive:

• Honorarium: ₹1,20,000/- per month
• Contingency Grant: Up to ₹10,000/- per month on reimbursement basis
• CL, RH and Duty Leave: As per Institute norms applicable to regular faculty

Selection Procedure

Applications received by the deadline will be scrutinized by the Institute-level Search-Cum-Selection Committee (SCSC).

The Committee may also nominate suitable retired academicians/scientists even if they have not submitted an application.
