IIT Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India, invites applications for the Project Engineer position at IIT from eligible and interested candidates

About- IIT Gandhinagar was founded in 2008 and is located in Palaj, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, on the banks of river Sabarmati. Research/Job Area- Electrical/Electronics/Physics/Materials Science discipline

Location-  IIT Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India

Eligibility/Qualification–

Ph.D. or equivalent in Electrical/Electronics/Physics/Materials Science discipline with a very good academic record throughout.

OR

M.Tech./M.S. or equivalent qualification in Electrical/Electronics/Physics/Materials Science discipline with a minimum of 02 years of post-qualification experience in Teaching/Research/Industrial/Design in an organization/Industry of repute.

The percentage/grade points with respect to the academic qualifications will be a minimum of 60% or equivalent grade from Graduation onwards and 55% or equivalent grade in class 10th and 12th.

Preferred Skills

  • Strong understanding of semiconductor-device physics, fabrication processes and device-characterization techniques.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor reliability mechanisms accelerated stress testing, failure analysis and lifetime modelling.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical characterization equipment such as semiconductor parameter analysers, probe stations or equivalent systems.
  • Experience in experimental design, statistical data analysis and interpretation of reliability measurements. 
  • Proficiency in data-analysis and automation tools such as Python, MATLAB or equivalent software. 
  • Ability to develop technical training material and conduct classroom and hands-on laboratory sessions. 
  • Strong problem-solving, technical documentation, communication and project-management skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with academic researchers, technical staff and industry professionals.
  • A strong motivation to contribute to India’s semiconductor ecosystem through advanced research, technology development, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and development on semiconductor device and process reliability.
  • Investigate device-degradation mechanisms such as biastemperature instability, hot-carrier degradation, timedependent dielectric breakdown, self-heating.
  • Perform wafer-level device characterization using semiconductor parameter analysers, probe stations and other relevant instruments.
  • Initiate and execute collaborative R&D projects with partner institutions and semiconductor companies.
  • Prepare technical reports, research proposals, training material, publications and project documentation. 
  • Mentor students and project staff and support the timely execution of SAMARTH workforce-development and research activities.
  • Support faculty members in organizing and delivering shortterm courses, training programs, and workshops conducted periodically by the centre.
Consolidated Monthly Remuneration including HRA, if applicable ₹60,000 – ₹1,25,000 (based on the qualification and experience)
Duration of appointmentOne year, extendable based on satisfactory performance.
