Quantum Materials & Technologies: The Theory of Quantum Materials and Solid-State Quantum Technologies group at the Materials Science Institute Madrid (ICMM) is seeking highly motivated and dynamic young scientists for PhD and Postdoc positions. The research focuses on the theory and simulation of hybrid semiconductor-superconductor systems, including quantum devices like qubits. The project involves close collaboration with state-of-the-art experimental labs.

Eligibility/Qualification:
Ph.D. position:
- Master’s degree in theoretical physics or a similar field (students in the process of completing their master’s thesis are also encouraged to apply).
- Solid knowledge of quantum mechanics, including solid-state physics and second quantization.
- Numerical programming practice (Python, Matlab, or similar) and basic use of mathematical computer tools (Wolfram Mathematica or similar).
- Practical knowledge of English.
- Preferably, some knowledge of quantum technologies, superconductivity, open quantum systems, periodically driven systems, quantum algorithms, and/or quantum simulation.
Postdoc position:
- Completed Ph.D. in physics or a related field.
- Solid knowledge of quantum mechanics, including superconductivity and open systems.
- Numerical programming practice (Python, Matlab, or similar) and basic use of mathematical computer tools (Wolfram Mathematica or similar).
- Practical knowledge of English.
- Preferably, some knowledge of quantum technologies, open quantum systems, periodically driven systems, quantum algorithms, and/or quantum simulation.
- Preferably, experience collaborating with experimental groups.
Job Description:
