Research Area

  • Novel wet-chemical syntheses of nanostructured high entropy metal oxides.
  • Electrocatalytic and photoelectrochemical water splitting for hydrogen production.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • Completed University Science Degree (M.Sc./Diploma) in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science or closely related fields.
  • Experience and strong knowledge in chemistry and/or physics laboratories.
  • Preferred experience in (photo-)electrochemistry and sol-gel chemistry.
  • Good communication skills and proficiency in English (both spoken and written).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible and open-minded mentality.

Job Description

As a Research Assistant/PhD Student, your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting comprehensive literature reviews and tabulating experimental observations.
  • Developing new synthesis concepts for nanostructured metal oxide thin films.
  • Performing sol-gel synthesis and various physicochemical characterizations using techniques such as:
  • Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM)
  • Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM)
  • X-ray Diffraction (XRD)
  • X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS)
  • Raman Spectroscopy
  • Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS)
  • Engaging in advanced photoelectrochemical analysis methods.
  • Writing publications and assisting in teaching activities at TU Darmstadt.
  • Supervising Bachelor and Master theses.
