About- The Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB) is a growing phenomenon. Located in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala, RGCB began in 1990 amongst humble surroundings as a small charitable society called the Centre for Development of Education, Science and Technology (C-DEST). In 1991, recognizing its potential, the C-DEST was made a “Grant-in-Aid” institute of the Government of Kerala and renamed as Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Development of Education, Science and Technology (RGC-DEST), becoming the first institute in the country to be named after Sri Rajiv Gandhi, former Prime Minster of India.

Eligibility/Qualification–
A. Research Associate
PhD in Agricultural/Plant Biotechnology/Life Science with a minimum of one year documented experience in Molecular Biology from a Govt. R&D Centre with at least one research paper in Science Citation Indexed (SCI) journal.
B. Junior Research Fellow
MSc in Agricultural/Plant Biotechnology or equivalent Post Graduate Degree with a minimum of 1 year documented experience in Molecular Biology from a Govt. R&D Centre and valid JRF/ Score in national level exam conducted by the Central Govt. Departs/ Agencies such as CSIR-UGC-National Eligibility Test (NET)/ MHRD – Graduate Aptitude Test in Engg (GATE)/ DBT-Biotechnology Eligibility test/ IACR- All India Competitive Exam (AICE)/ Joint Graduate Entrance Exam for Biology & Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (JBEEBILS)/ ICMR – JRF Entrance Exam/ Lectureship in CSIR-UGC.

JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOW:
Below 30 years as on February 28, 2020.
31,000 + 16% HRA per month.
Meritorious candidates will be given age relaxation and for SC/ST & OBC candidates, age relaxation will be given as per Govt. of India norms.
Job/Position Description-
Applications are invited from suitable candidates for 1 position of Research Associate and 1 position of Junior Research Fellow in a DST funded research project entitled “Development of a disease management strategy against phytopthora capsici utilizing an effective biocontrol agent and green synthesized silver nanoparticles from black pepper” at Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, Thiruvananthapuram.
DURATION– Initially for a period of one year and extendable up to 3 years or till termination of the project whichever is earlier based on performance evaluation on yearly basis.

Envelopes must be superscripted with abbreviated title of the project, advertisement number and job title. Selection to the position will not entitle the candidate to any future positions at RGCB (permanent or otherwise). As with all project positions at RGCB, the position will be co terminus with end of the project.
Only those fulfilling the above criteria need apply. Selection of suitable candidates will be made based on qualifications and performance in the selection interview. In the event of more than 10 candidates being short-listed by screening the applications for the position of Junior Research Fellow a written test will be conducted before the selection interview and only those who are successful in the written test will be interviewed.
