Research Associate (Biochemistry and Cell Biology)- Research goup is seeking two postdoctoral researchers with experience in cell biology and/or biochemistry to join our team studying new mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative diseases. The posts are funded by the Wellcome Trust and are based in the laboratory of Dr Janet Deane at the Cambridge Institute for Medical Research.

Eligibility/Qualification: The post holders must hold or soon to be awarded a PhD in Biochemistry, Cell Biology, or a relevant subject and have a good track record of generating publication-quality data. They must have good interpersonal skills as well as the ability to communicate their work clearly in both formal and informal settings. The candidate must have great attention to detail and excellent record keeping.

Job Description: The successful applicants will be part of a team with established expertise in protein expression and purification, protein-protein and protein-lipid interaction assays, structural biology, and the generation of cell-based models of disease including CRISPRi in iPSC cells. The candidates must have experience in cell biology and/or biochemistry with a keen interest in translating cell-based discoveries into molecular insights. An appreciation of the importance of both lipids and proteins for cell adhesion and membrane trafficking is highly advantageous. For the post in cell biology, experience using Schwann or oligodendrocyte cells or myelin co-culture assays would be advantageous. For the post in biochemistry, experience in structural biology particularly cryo-EM/ET techniques would be advantageous.
