Research Associate (Fixed-Term): The University of Bath’s Department of Chemistry is seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Research Associate. This fixed-term role, spanning 36 months, involves working on the project “Cyclobutadiene Reloaded: A Generally Applicable Approach to Four-Membered Heterocycles.” The project, funded by the UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), is led by Dr. Susannah Coote in collaboration with Key Organics.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in organic chemistry.
  • Practical experience in synthesis and/or catalytic methods.
  • Interest in medicinal chemistry/drug discovery.
  • Experience in scientific writing and a broad background knowledge in organic synthesis.

Job Description: As a Research Associate, you will lead a team of chemists in developing methodology for synthesizing highly substituted four-membered heterocycles, including spirocyclic versions, using cyclobutadiene. Responsibilities include individual and collaborative research projects, writing up research results for publication, presenting results at seminars and conferences, supervising student projects, and contributing to departmental teaching activities.
