The University of Bonn is seeking a dedicated researcher to join the Chair of Computational Life Sciences within the Bonn Center for Mathematical Life Sciences. This position is part of the DFG-funded Collaborative Research Center/Transregio 333, “Brown and Beige Fat – Organ Crosstalk, Signaling and Energetics (BATenergy),” which aims to advance understanding of metabolic regulation and identify new therapeutic strategies for metabolic disorders.

Eligibility and Qualifications
- For Postdoc: PhD in (bio) informatics, computational biology, computer science, statistics, mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline.
- For PhD Student: University degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in the fields mentioned above.
- Alternative: Candidates with a life sciences degree and a strong track record in computational data analysis are also encouraged to apply.
- Key Skills:
- Profound knowledge of statistics, bioinformatics, machine learning, and/or data science methods.
- Experience in analyzing large-scale biological datasets.
- Proficiency in R or Python programming.
- Strong command of written and spoken English.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary environment.
Job Description
Depending on your level, you will either work under guidance (PhD) or independently (Postdoc). Responsibilities include:
- Performing bioinformatic, statistical, and machine learning analyses of various data types, such as proteomics, single-cell RNA sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, and in vitro metabolic phenotyping.
- Developing and implementing computational methods, software tools, and reproducible analysis pipelines.
- Providing computational support, consulting, and collaborating with clinical and experimental partners.
- Publishing and presenting scientific results at international conferences and in journals.
- Supervising and mentoring Bachelor’s and Master’s students.
