Research Associate in Cell Biology: The University of Sheffield’s School of Biosciences is inviting applications for the position of Research Associate. This three-year fixed-term position, starting on April 1, 2024, or as soon as possible thereafter, is funded by the Medical Research Council (MRC). The role involves working at the interface of developmental/stem cell biology and disease modelling, specifically focusing on the human enteric nervous system (ENS) progenitor dynamics and their interaction with Schwann cell precursors during ENS development and Hirschsprung disease.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD (or close to completion/equivalent experience) in a subject related to stem cell/developmental biology.
- Experience in human pluripotent stem cell (hPSC) culture and neural/neural crest differentiation, immunocytochemistry, flow cytometry, and qPCR.
- Knowledge of CRISPR/Cas9-based gene editing approaches in hPSCs would be advantageous.
Job Description: The successful candidate will:
- Employ hPSC differentiation and genetic engineering techniques to study ENS progenitor dynamics and their crosstalk with Schwann cell precursors.
- Collaborate closely with the group of Conor McCann at the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health in London.
- Demonstrate expertise in hPSC culture, neural differentiation, and associated molecular techniques.
- Utilize CRISPR/Cas9-based gene editing approaches in hPSCs.
The candidate is expected to possess excellent interpersonal, written, and communication skills and maintain a high standard of work.
