Eligibility/Qualification:

  • A PhD (or equivalent qualification) in chemistry or a closely related subject, or nearing completion.
  • Strong research background in molecular inorganic synthesis.
  • Experience in the synthesis and manipulation of air-sensitive compounds is essential.
  • Familiarity with NMR spectroscopy is required; experience with XRD, CV, and/or EPR is desirable but not essential.
  • Potential for publication in high-quality, peer-reviewed journals is necessary.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will work on developing new elementary steps for “main group-friendly” catalytic mechanisms to achieve outcomes similar to precious metal catalysts. Responsibilities include:

  • Designing and synthesizing main group Lewis acids with redox-active scaffolds.
  • Investigating catalytic mechanisms and coordinating research with external collaborators.
  • Assisting in managing the Scott research group, including co-supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
