Eligibility/Qualification
Academic Qualifications:
- An above-average university degree (Diplom or Master’s) in one of the following disciplines:
- Materials Science / Materials Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering / Polymer Engineering
- Chemical Engineering / Process Engineering
- Physics or Chemistry (with experience in polymer science)
- Computer Science / Data Science / Artificial Intelligence (with experience in polymer science)
Skills and Experience:
- Strong interest in scientific research in the field of polymer engineering.
- Highly motivated, proactive, and capable of independent work.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Very good command of written and spoken English.
- Additional experience in computer science, digitalisation, or sustainability is considered an advantage.
Job Description
The successful candidate will be part of a DFG research project focused on developing and formulating novel cleavable epoxy resin systems. The primary goal is to enable high-value circular use of fibre-reinforced composites. Key responsibilities include:
- Establishing a fundamental understanding of the relationships between the chemical structure of resin systems, their material properties, and the recycling/reuse behaviour of both matrix and reinforcing fibres.
- Conducting experimental research in a state-of-the-art laboratory environment.
- Integrating data-driven materials development, machine learning, and digital models to predict and tailor material properties.
- Collaborating with a dynamic research team and industrial partners.
