About-Â Birbal Sahni Institute of Paleosciences, Lucknow was established the Institute in the year 1946 to explore and develop palaeobotany as a science in itself, visualizing its potential in solving issues of origin and evolution of plant life, other geological issues including exploration of fossil fuels. Originally plant fossil and related studies based, the mandate of the BSIP was recently expanded to combine it with other areas of palaeosciences, and creating modern facilities to achieve this end. Eligibility/Qualification:

| Essential Qualification | Master’s degree (M.Sc.) in Botany/Geology with high academic attainments both at the graduate and postÂgraduate levels and three years of research experience in the appropriate discipline or Ph.D. in the appropriate discipline. |
| Desirable Qualification | Experience of fieldwork in high altitude/Alpine regions. A good understanding of the tree species of the Himalayan Forest. Basic and advanced statistical knowledge in tree-ring research. |
*Age: Relaxation is admissible for the candidates who belong to the SC/ST/OBC category as per Government of India rules.
Job Description:
Eligible candidates are invited to attend a Walk-in-interview to apply for the post of one Research Associate (RA) under the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) -New Delhi, Sponsored Project titled “Investigation of xylogenesis from alpine and high altitude Himalayas to analyse climate change and its consequences on extreme ecological environments” under the guidance of Dr. K G Misra, Scientist- ‘E’ (Principal Investigator), BSIP, tenable at the Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeosciences (BSIP), Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh for the period of two years or co-terminus with the project.

How to Apply:
Interested candidates may appear before the Selection Committee on 15/03/2024 at 11.00 AM and onwards in the Committee Room of the Institute. For walk-in interview candidates bring their application/bio-data on plain paper along with original and self-attested copies of mark sheets/certificates. The incumbent shall have no implicit or explicit claim of regular absorption in any post in the Institute or in the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) New Delhi, Government of India. No TA/DA will be admissible to attend the interview.
