Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Ph.D. in Physics, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Engineering.
  • Experience in conducting experimental research related to temperature measurement, high-precision instrumentation, or metrology.
  • Familiarity with scientific test equipment and automation.
  • Proficiency in design and simulation tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor) and programming languages (e.g., Python, Matlab, LabVIEW).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Job Description:
The NIST Temperature and Humidity Group seeks a motivated individual to join the Standard Platinum Resistance Thermometer Calibration Laboratory (SPRTCL). Responsibilities include:

  • Design, testing, and integration of advanced temperature calibration equipment.
  • Implement new equipment and methodologies to enhance calibration capabilities.
  • Conduct research to explore new methods for improving temperature measurement precision.
  • Document equipment upgrades and research findings, ensuring transparency and reproducibility.
  • Present findings at internal and external meetings.
