Job Description
You will be responsible for the research and development of specialty optical fibres. Key tasks include:
- 3D-printing, extrusion, and chemical purification of structured glass preforms made from fused silica.
- Drawing of microstructured optical fibres, with a focus on novel hollow-core fibres for applications in high-speed communications, quantum technology, and sensor technology.
- Dissemination of findings through scientific publications and conference presentations.
Eligibility & Qualifications
- Education: A completed Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering Physics, Materials Science, Engineering, or a similar discipline.
- Skills & Experience: * Experience in fibre optics, handling process gases, glass processing, and control engineering is preferred.
- Familiarity with cleanroom environments is an advantage.
- Strong team spirit and the ability to work independently.
- Proficiency in the English language.
- Physical Requirement: The ability to climb stairs in a cleanroom is an essential requirement.
