Research Fellow at the University of Edinburgh: The College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine, Deanery of Clinical Sciences, and Centre for Regenerative Medicine at the University of Edinburgh are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Fellow. The position is part of a 3-year Medical Research Council (MRC)-funded project focused on investigating macrophage-niche crosstalk and salivary gland regeneration/degeneration following radiotherapy for head and neck cancer. The project aims to characterize the degeneration period, study crucial ligand-cell interactions, and explore the potential of rescuing regeneration through restoring macrophage-niche crosstalk.

Eligibility/Qualification: The successful candidate should have:

  • PhD (or near completion) in Immunology, Inflammation Biology, Regenerative Medicine, or a related field.
  • Background and practical experience in in vivo experimental work.
  • Knowledge of macrophage biology and/or regenerative medicine, with a strong publication record in top-tier conferences and journals.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong project management skills, including meeting deadlines and reporting on project progress.
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
  • Desire to work in a dynamic and collaborative research team.

Job Description: The Research Fellow will have the following responsibilities:

  • Conduct research within the scope of the MRC-funded project, investigating macrophage-niche crosstalk and salivary gland regeneration/degeneration.
  • Characterize the degeneration period and investigate ligand-cell interactions.
  • Explore strategies to restore macrophage-niche crosstalk and rescue regeneration.
  • Work collaboratively with the Emmerson and Bain research groups.
  • Meet project deadlines and report on progress.
  • Communicate research findings clearly, orally, and in writing.
  • Contribute to the publication of research results in top-tier conferences and journals.
