Research Fellow at University of Birmingham: The Department of Cancer and Genomic Sciences at the University of Birmingham is looking for a dedicated Research Fellow to join the Broderick lab. The successful candidate will engage in fundamental research related to telomere maintenance, DNA replication, and DNA repair in human cells, focusing on the Alternative Lengthening of Telomeres (ALT) process and its implications for cancer therapy.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- A first degree in a relevant area and normally a PhD (or near to completion) related to the research area or equivalent qualifications.
- Demonstrable research experience or detailed knowledge of mammalian telomere biology, DNA replication, and/or DNA repair.
- Experience with CRISPR/Cas9-mediated gene editing, immunofluorescence microscopy, and image analysis.
- Evidence of research productivity, including publications or preprints.
- High level analytical capability and ability to communicate complex information clearly.
Job Description:
- Develop research objectives and proposals both independently and collaboratively.
- Utilize and expand existing methodologies, as well as mentor other team members.
- Analyze and interpret research data while advising on subsequent steps based on current literature.
- Maintain meticulous notes and records of research findings.
- Supervise and guide students and junior staff in research-related tasks.
- Contribute to research funding bids and develop innovative research models and techniques.
- Keep up with laboratory administration and manage daily research tasks.
