Eligibility/Qualification
- MSc and PhD degrees in analytical chemistry, aqueous geochemistry, or low-temperature environmental geosciences with a specialization in aqueous chemical analyses.
- Demonstrated laboratory expertise in analyzing low-level nutrient and metal concentrations using advanced analytical methods (e.g., UV-VIS, IC, ICP-OES/MS).
- Proven experience in evaluating aqueous geochemical data.
- Experience in statistical coding is a plus.
- Excellent publication and 3rd-party funding records.
- Capacity for interdisciplinary and international teamwork.
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience supervising MSc and PhD students is preferred.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English; knowledge of German is an asset but not required.
Job Description
- Conduct original research on biogeochemical element cycles in terrestrial polar soils and rivers, focusing on dissolved species.
- Develop new analytical approaches for characterizing low-level nutrient and metal concentrations using spectroscopic and spectrometric methods.
- Evaluate biogeochemical processes through high-level aqueous analyses combined with geochemical modeling.
- Collaborate with researchers from diverse backgrounds and publish results in international peer-reviewed journals.
- Present research findings at scientific meetings and take initiative in developing personal research directions.
- Lead or contribute significantly to writing proposals for 3rd-party funding.
- Supervise MSc and PhD students as needed.
