Eligibility / Qualification

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • PhD (awarded or near completion) in Electrochemistry or a related discipline
  • Strong hands-on experience with electrochemical techniques
  • Experience in safe laboratory practices and COSHH documentation
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively within research teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in scientific writing (manuscripts, reports, or patents)

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in electrodeposition techniques
  • Expertise in characterization of materials using SEM, EDX, Raman, UV-Vis, XRD
  • Experience working in inert environments (glove box, non-aqueous systems)
  • Familiarity with advanced electrochemical tools (EQCM, impedance spectroscopy)
  • Experience in interdisciplinary research
  • Commitment to continuous professional development

Job Description

Research Responsibilities (65%)

  • Conduct independent and collaborative research in electrochemistry
  • Develop innovative research outputs and publish in peer-reviewed journals
  • Contribute to grant proposals and research funding applications
  • Engage with academic, industrial, and public stakeholders
  • Ensure research outputs follow FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reproducible) principles
  • Support supervision of postgraduate students

Leadership & Engagement (15%)

  • Plan and manage research activities effectively
  • Contribute to departmental and university initiatives
  • Participate in committees (e.g., EDI, Health & Safety, Ethics)
  • Support sustainability and inclusion initiatives
  • Mentor junior researchers and assist colleagues

Education Contribution (5%)

  • Assist in teaching and learning activities
  • Develop skills in academic teaching practices

Knowledge Exchange & Enterprise (5%)

  • Support development of knowledge exchange and enterprise activities
  • Contribute to collaborations with industry and external partners

Professional Development (5%)

  • Undertake at least 10 days/year of training and CPD
  • Build research leadership and professional identity

Additional Duties (5%)

Salary– £36,636 to £41,064 per annumFull Time Fixed Term until 05/07/2028
