Designation: Research Fellow

Research Area: Mathematical Statistics, Bayesian Methods, Big Data Analysis

Location: Milan, Italy

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD or equivalent in a relevant field, or currently enrolled as a PhD student.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience in mathematical statistics.
  • Proficiency in English (both spoken and written).
  • Desirable: Experience with Bayesian methods, scalable computation, high-dimensional models, and programming skills.
  • Not eligible: Candidates with kinship to university board members or those enrolled in other degree programs or holding incompatible employment positions.

Job Description: The successful candidate will conduct research on the theoretical guarantees and limitations of scalable Bayesian methods, aiming to derive more accurate procedures for handling big data. Responsibilities include:

  • Publishing research papers.
  • Presenting work at conferences.
  • Regular attendance at departmental seminars.
  • Collaborating within the research project “BigBayesUQ” under the supervision of Prof. Botond Szabo.
