Job Description: As Scientific Project Staff, your responsibilities include participating in the ERC-Consolidator Grant project “Celtic and Latin glossing traditions: uncovering early medieval language contact and knowledge transfer (GlossIT)” at the University of Graz. This involves training and setting up Handwritten Text Recognition for early medieval glossed manuscripts, creating digital editions of glossed Beda and Priscian manuscripts, analyzing and synthesizing gloss corpora using network analysis and Natural Language Processing, and engaging in publication activities and presentations within the specialized context of GlossIT.
Your Profile:
- Completed doctorate/PhD in Digital Humanities or similar qualification
- Excellent written and spoken English skills
- Experience with Handwritten Text Recognition, network analysis, and creation of digital editions and philological projects
- Proficiency in XML/TEI, Python, HTR, and Natural Language Processing tools
- High level of commitment, motivation, and ability to conduct independent research
- Strong teamwork and organizational skills
