About- CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Biology (CSIR-IICB), a premier institute under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), is seeking dynamic and creative Indian researchers. The institute focuses on cutting-edge knowledge generation and human resource training in chemical biology, biochemistry, cell biology, genomics, epigenomics, structural biology, bioinformatics, and medicinal chemistry. The research aims to address fundamental and applied biological and biomedical questions related to infectious and non-infectious diseases relevant to both India and global contexts. CSIR-IICB’s work is diversified across several research divisions at its Jadavpur Campus and the CSIR-IICB Translational Research Unit of Excellence (TRUE), Salt Lake Campus. These include:

Eligibility/Qualification–
Eligibility varies by position and vacancy code. General requirements include:
- Scientist (Pay Level 11): Ph.D. (submitted) in relevant fields such as Chemical Sciences (with Medicinal Chemistry), Computational Chemistry/Molecular Biophysics (with Chemi-informatics/pharmaco-informatics/AI & ML), Pharmaceutical Sciences/Life Sciences (with Pharmacology), Pharmacology/Toxicology/Pathology, Life Science/Natural Science (with Immunology), Computer Science/Information Technology/Electronics & Communication, Physiology (with Diabetes focus), Instrumentation/Biomedical Engineering/Electronics, or Biological Sciences/Pharmaceutical Sciences (with Pulmonary Medicine) . Experience requirements are specific to each vacancy.
- Senior Scientist (Pay Level 12): Ph.D. (Science) with 2 years post-doctoral experience in Pharmacology or MD in Clinical Pharmacology with 3 years experience; or Ph.D. in Life Sciences/Chemical Sciences/Pharmaceutical Sciences/Management or equivalent with 2 years post-Ph.D. experience in business development, project management, or technology transfer .
- Principal Scientist (Pay Level 13): Ph.D. in Life Sciences or MD in Microbiology with 3 years of post-doctoral experience in AMR/point of care diagnostics .
Candidates with industry experience are preferred, along with strong interpersonal and communication skills for multidisciplinary teams and a demonstrated ability to contribute to translational research

Job specifications are unique for each vacancy code. Examples include:
- Scientist (Medicinal Chemistry): Design and synthesize novel chemical compounds for optimizing potency, selectivity, pharmacokinetics, and in vivo efficacy. Interface with biological and pharmacological collaborators for translational research .
- Scientist (Computational Chemistry): Initiate development of new models, algorithms, and methodologies. Collaborate with medicinal chemistry and other teams for scientific knowledge from computational analyses supporting small molecule drug discovery. Apply AI-ML-DL techniques in Chemistry/Life sciences and develop novel algorithms for data-driven drug discovery .
- Senior Scientist (Business Development): Drive business development, foster collaborations, manage technology transfer and IP portfolio, secure funding, oversee R&D project monitoring, and engage with industry for commercialization
