Eligibility/Qualification–
Educational qualifications: Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in the area of Life Sciences or Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Master of Veterinary Science (M.V.Sc.) or Master of Technology (M.Tech) in the field of Biotechnology from a recognized University or Institute.
Minimum experience required: Minimum (20) twenty years, Research and Development experience in the field of Biotechnology/Life Sciences in industrial or academic institutions or an organization of science and technology.
Age Limit: Upper-age limit for Scientist ‘H’ on direct recruitment basis shall be 50 years as on the closing date. However, the upper age limit shall be relaxable for Government servants upto five years in accordance with the instructions or orders issued by the Central Government.
Job/Position Description-
The Department of Biotechnology requires the services of suitable officer for filling up of four vacant posts of Scientist ‘H’, a Senior Group ‘A’ Gazetted post in the Pay Matrix Level – 15 of Rs.182200-224100/-. All the four posts will be filled up on Direct Recruitment basis under Unreserved category as this is a senior level scientific post and is exempted from the purview of the reservation policy of the Government with the approval of the competent authority.
Duties Attached to the Post:
- To provide vision and direction to the R&D programmes relating to agriculture, medical, environmental, industrial processes and animal biotechnology.
- To provide vision and direction to the programmes relating to Biosecurity, Biotech Regulation, Intellectual Property, National Biotechnology Regulatory Authority, legislation on DNA Profiling as well as on the Protection and Utilization of Intellectual Property in Public Funded R&D and International Collaboration.
- To promote innovation through public private partnerships, establishment of biotech parks and incubators, capacity building for management of Intellectual Property and technology transfer as well as establishing technology transfer cells.
- To provide effective coordination and management of autonomous institutions, Centers of Excellence, facilities, organized industry-academia interface for optimal utilization of all these establishments.

The applicants residing abroad and from Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep Islands, States in the North Eastern region, Ladakh region of J&K. Sikkim, Sub-division Chamba and Lahaul and Spiti districts of Himachal Pradesh are eligible for an additional period of seven days for receipt of the application.
