The main research interests of Astronomy & Astrophysics division are in solar, planetary, stellar, galactic and extra-galactic astronomy including stellar variabilities, X-ray binaries, star clusters, nearby galaxies, quasars, and inherently transient events like supernovae and highly energetic gammaray bursts.Research focus in Atmospheric Sciences division is mainly in the lower part of the atmosphere and covers the studies on aerosols and trace gases.Moreover, to strengthen the scientific contribution

Eligibility/Qualification–

Project Scientist I:

Essential: PhD in Science or Master’s Degree in Engineering/Technology from a recognized university.

Desirable: Background in solar physics, programming proficiency (Python, IDL), and experience in image processing.

Postdoctoral Fellow:

Essential: PhD in Solar Physics or related discipline.

Desirable: Experience in solar observational data analysis, including imaging and spectroscopic data. Proficiency in programming (Python, IDL).

Job/Position Description- 

The Aditya-L1 mission is India’s first dedicated space mission to study the Sun, developed through a collaboration between ISRO and ARIES. The mission aims to provide critical insights into solar dynamics and associated processes. To support ongoing activities, ARIES invites applications for Project Scientist and Postdoctoral Fellow positions under the Aditya-L1 Support Cell.

  • Project Scientist I:
    • Manage Aditya-L1 Support Cell activities, organize workshops, develop software tools, draft documentation, and moderate website content.
  • Postdoctoral Fellow:
    • Conduct research using remote sensing payloads of Aditya-L1, assist in workshops, and contribute to support cell activities.
