Senior Postdoctoral Scientist: The Pirbright Institute is seeking applications for the position of Senior Postdoctoral Scientist within the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation-funded Pirbright Livestock Antibody Hub. The successful candidate will contribute to studying the cattle antibody response to foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV) antigens. The position involves utilizing state-of-the-art techniques and technologies, project coordination, and contributing to the overall research group.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD in Immunology or related biosciences
- Significant and relevant experience in an R&D environment
- Experience with cellular and molecular biology
- Knowledge and experience working with B cells, antibodies, and immunology
- Publication record commensurate with the applicant’s career stage
Job Description:
1. Research Projects (60%):
- Conduct independent and collaborative research
- Design and optimize assays studying cattle responses to vaccination and vaccination
- Analyze data from various experiments (e.g., Flow cytometry, Biolayer interferometry, ELISpots, Sequencing, 10X genomics)
- Characterize and link whole antibody repertoire data to single B cell data
- Lead projects on cattle B cell development and antibody repertoire generation
2. Project Coordination (30%):
- Line manage junior team members
- Provide guidance in experimental design and planning
- Oversee multiple projects and sub-projects on antigen-specific antibody discovery
- Disseminate research findings in high-quality, peer-reviewed journals and conferences
3. Contribution to the Overall Research Group (10%):
- Participate in committees, steering groups, and meetings
- Contribute to lab management, logistics, and audits
- Engage in outreach activities with diverse audiences
