Scholarship Description:
This scholarship supports a Senior Research Technician role within a 5-year MRC-funded research programme. The successful applicant will work with a team of postdoctoral researchers and technicians to investigate synaptic dysfunction and impaired neurotransmission in ALS/FTD using iPSC models and primary neuron cultures. The role includes conducting electrophysiological and microscopy-based experiments, genetic and biochemical analyses, and using Drosophila models to explore disease mechanisms.
Eligibility:
- Proven experience with iPSC-derived neuronal cultures.
- Experience in electrophysiology, primary neuron cultures, and viral vectors (lentiviral and AAV) is advantageous.
- Proficiency in molecular cloning, PCR, biochemistry, and fluorescence microscopy.
- Strong laboratory management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently with a high degree of accuracy and outstanding record-keeping.
