Job Summary
TU Wien (Vienna University of Technology) is inviting applications for a University Assistant (Post-Doc) position at the Institute of Applied Synthetic Chemistry. The selected researcher will join the Laboratory for Functional Aromatic Molecules to work on the synthesis, characterization, and application of conjugated organic materials, including conjugated polymers and macrocycles. Eligibility & Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following criteria to be considered for the position:
Required Profile:
- Completion of an appropriate doctorate (PhD) in Chemistry, Materials Science, or a closely related field by the start of employment at the latest.
- Proven record of scientific publication activity in reputable international academic journals.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English (minimum C1 level).
- In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in the synthesis, characterization, and application of conjugated organic materials.
- Prior teaching experience and an enthusiasm for research and working with students.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable Skills:
- Knowledge and experience in the synthesis, characterization, and application of polymers.
- Experience in integrating conjugated organic materials into electronic devices.
- Track record of participation in national/international research collaborations and project management.
- Experience in (co-)supervising undergraduate and graduate students.
- International research experience outside of Austria.
Job Description & Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be engaged in research, teaching, and administrative functions at the Laboratory for Functional Aromatic Molecules:
- Conduct high-impact research on the synthesis, characterization, and application of conjugated organic materials, particularly conjugated polymers and conjugated macrocycles.
- Participate in acquiring, implementing, and administering research projects.
- Draft and prepare peer-reviewed scientific publications, presentations, and invention disclosures.
- Process and curate research data in line with FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) data principles.
- Supervise student research and support educational courses.
- Develop and implement course materials, participate in teaching activities, and assist with academic examinations.
- Organize scientific events and assist with institutional administrative and evaluation tasks.
