University Assistant Postdoctoral: The University of Vienna is seeking a highly qualified and motivated University Assistant Postdoctoral for the Department of Political Science. Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Completed doctoral/PhD studies in Political Science or a closely related field such as Sociology
  • Outstanding dissertation from a top-ranked department
  • Proven research competence and initiative through international publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • Experience in research management and leading project staff
  • Didactic skills and experience in e-learning
  • Excellent knowledge of English (C1) and strong oral and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Desirable: Experience in teaching courses related to Politics and Gender, ability to teach in both German and English, and proven expertise in relevant research areas such as Theories of the State, Populism, the Far Right, Neoliberalism, Political Ethnography, Comparative and Historical Methods, and Qualitative Methods

Job Description:

  • Build up an independent research profile in Politics and Gender
  • Engage in research projects and scientific studies, complementing the specializations of Professor of Politics and Gender, Prof. Dr. Dorit Geva
  • Publish internationally, give lectures, and participate in international academic conferences
  • Apply for projects and raise third-party funds
  • Prepare and complete a publication-ready habilitation
  • Hold courses independently within the scope of the collective bargaining agreement
  • Supervise student theses, particularly those specializing in Politics and Gender
  • Participate in evaluation measures and quality assurance
  • Take on administrative tasks in research, teaching, and administration
  • Assist in organizing lectures, workshops, and an annual conference for Politics and Gender
  • Collaborate closely with the Professor of Politics and Gender to foster a vibrant research area in the department and the discipline at large
