1-Year Postdoctoral Research Position: A 1-year postdoctoral research position is available immediately at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, focusing on automating precision material discovery in low-temperature scanning probe microscopy facilities. The project aligns with FAIR data infrastructures, emphasizing findable (F), accessible (A), interoperable (I), and reusable (R) material data management principles.
Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher
Research Area: Automating Precision Material Discovery in Low-T Scanning Probe Microscopy Facilities
Location: Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, IRIS Adlershof
Eligibility/Qualification:
- A PhD in an ultrahigh vacuum-related field is required.
- Expertise in low-temperature scanning probe or photoemission microscopy is recommended.
Job Description:
1-Year Postdoctoral Research Position in Automating Precision Material Discovery
The successful candidate will be responsible for the scanning probe microscopy facilities at HU Berlin, specifically two UHV chambers housing the Adlershof and CreaTec LT SPMPEEM and Omicron VT-STM. The role involves leading a formal task group to automate sample preparation processes by interfacing hardware and scripts with the NOMAD database and FAIRmat data infrastructure. The goal is to automate time-dependent parameters for optimizing graphene nanoribbons fabrication from molecular precursors, particularly on insulating interfaces. Collaboration with programming, scanning probe microscopy, and electron microscopy colleagues, along with FAIRmat Area leaders, is integral to the role.
How to Apply: Interested candidates should submit their application (containing a cover letter, CV, copy of PhD certificate, and two contact persons) electronically as a single PDF-file to palma@physik.hu-berlin.de.
Last Date for Apply: Until position filled
