3-Year Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Protist: Lund University, Sweden

postdoctoral fellow lund university

3-Year Post-Doctoral Fellowship: Research group is offering a fully-funded 3-year post-doctoral fellowship to study protist:bacteria interactions as part of our ERC TANGO2 project at Lund University, Sweden. The fellow will develop a genetic tool to perform massively parallelized mutagenesis of bacterial symbionts of anaerobic protists to uncover genes essential for symbiotic interactions. This is an excellent opportunity to develop a new method for studying symbiotic interactions in eukaryotes and work with researchers at the forefront of molecular biology, microbiology, and evolution.

Job Description:

3-Year Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Protist:Bacteria Interactions

The fellow will develop a genetic tool to perform massively parallelized mutagenesis of bacterial symbionts of anaerobic protists to uncover genes essential for symbiotic interactions. These data will be used to approximate metabolic interactions between the organisms. The work focuses on the development of genetic tools to study protist:bacteria interactions. Some of the planned methodology includes anaerobic culturing, development of genetic tools in Arcobacteracea transposon mutagenesis and bioinformatic analysis.

Eligibility/Qualification: We are seeking enthusiastic candidates with a strong background in mutagenesis, metabolism, and/or biochemistry. Previous experience with protists or anaerobes is not necessary but desired. Candidates must have a PhD in mutagenesis, metabolism, biochemistry, or related fields.

How to Apply: All applications must be submitted through the provided link. Please be sure to answer the four questions posed in Varbi and ensure that your application is written in English. The application should include a CV (maximum of 2 pages), a cover letter (maximum of 2 pages) that includes a general description of your past and future research interests, a clear explanation of how your skills can be applied to the enclosed project, and contact information of 2-3 references, including previous main supervisors. A list of publications (no page limit), a copy of the doctoral degree certificate, and other certificates/grades that you wish to be considered should also be included.
