Research Area
The research project focuses on Neurovascular Pathophysiology, specifically investigating the mechanisms driving cognitive deficits in various settings of vascular cognitive impairment and dementia (VCID). The ultimate objective is to discover novel diagnostic and therapeutic targets to aid in early detection and prevention.

- Maladaptive adult hippocampal neurogenesis as a primary neuropathological substrate underlying cognitive dysfunction.
- Interdisciplinary methodologies spanning neurology, cardiovascular science, pharmacology, neurobiology, advanced molecular imaging, neuroimaging, and neuropsychology.

Scholarship Description

Eligibility and Qualifications
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Academic Degree: Graduate degree in Biomedical, Life Sciences, or related disciplines. A Master’s degree is mandatory by the time of the official FPI call resolution.
- Academic Record: An academic grade average above 7.5 (on a 0–10 scale) is desirable.
- Technical Experience: Hands-on experience with experimental animal models of cerebrovascular diseases and behavioral tests (memory, anxiety, depression, motor skills) is highly valued.
- Language Skills: Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
- Additional Assets: International experience, co-authorship on scientific publications, or academic awards are considered strong assets.
- Soft Skills: High motivation, creativity, intellectual curiosity, and strong cooperative teamwork capabilities.
