Study Area
The project focuses on unraveling the mathematical principles behind modern machine learning methods. Potential topics include the analysis of learning algorithms, generalization properties of deep learning, non-convex optimization, stochastic networks, learning on graphs, and interacting particle systems.
Scholarship Description
Funded by the Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Program (WASP), the project contributes to advancing our understanding of mathematical foundations in machine learning. The candidate will be part of the WASP cluster in AI/Math.
Eligibility
Candidates with a strong mathematical background and an interest in machine learning are encouraged to apply. No specific prior experience is required, and applicants from historically underrepresented groups are particularly welcome.
Required Documents
- CV: Include relevant work, such as Bachelor’s or Master’s theses and articles.
- Personal Letter: 1-2 pages introducing yourself, describing relevant experiences, and outlining future goals and research focus.
- Other Documents: Copies of Bachelor’s and/or Master’s theses, attested copies and transcripts of completed education, grades, and certificates (e.g., TOEFL results).
How to Apply
Submit your application electronically using the designated application form. Ensure all documents are attached as PDF files, with a maximum size of 40 MB per file. Note that Zip files are not supported. Applications sent via email cannot be considered.
