PhD Position in Probability/Analysis and AI: Chalmers University of Technology and the University of Gothenburg invite applications for a PhD position in mathematics for AI. The successful candidate will conduct research at the intersection of probability theory, analysis, and machine learning under the supervision of Associate Professor Pierre Nyquist. The position is part of the Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Program (WASP) cluster in AI/Math.

Job Description: The PhD candidate will contribute to understanding the mathematical principles behind modern machine learning methods. Potential research directions include the analysis of learning algorithms, generalization properties of deep learning methods, non-convex optimization, stochastic networks, learning on graphs, and interacting particle systems. The candidate will be enrolled in a graduate program at the Department of Mathematical Sciences and is expected to develop independent ideas, communicate scientific results, and engage in teaching duties.
