Study Area: The research in the Kramer group focuses on the development of novel methods in organic chemistry, transition-metal catalysis, photocatalysis, enantioselective catalysis, and C-H functionalization, along with the elucidation of reaction mechanisms.
Scholarship Description: The PhD project will involve the development of novel methods in photoinduced transition-metal catalysis for enantioselective C-H functionalizations. The emphasis will be on methodology development within this field, including organic synthesis, reaction optimization, and substrate scope investigation. The successful candidate will undergo a four-month stay at AstraZeneca, benefiting from both academic and industrial supervision.
Eligibility: Candidates should hold a two-year master’s degree (120 ECTS points) or an equivalent academic qualification in chemistry or chemical engineering. A strong background in experimental organic chemistry is essential. While experience in method development and catalysis is advantageous, it is not a mandatory requirement.
