PWANI UNIVERSITY-OREBRO UNIVERSITY PhD FELLOWSHIP: Pwani University and Orebro University are jointly offering a fully funded 3-year PhD Fellowship in Immunology. The fellowship covers tuition fees, a monthly stipend, basic medical cover, and project support. The research project focuses on enhancing the understanding of the pathogenesis and pathophysiology of inflammatory disorders of the intestine, including microscopic colitis and inflammation-associated colon cancer. The analysis involves gene expression data from human colonic biopsies and a mouse model, utilizing bioinformatics and statistical processing tools.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree in Biosciences or related discipline with a minimum of Second Class Honours Upper Division
- Master’s degree in disciplines such as Immunology, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, Microbiology, or related fields with a strong Immunology component
- Experience in computing or bioinformatics
Job Description: The selected candidate will:
- Analyze gene expression data from human colonic biopsies and a mouse model
- Utilize bioinformatics and statistical processing tools for data analysis
- Interpret gene expression data related to immunology, especially mucosal immunology, and immuno-oncology
- Collaborate with the Microscopic Colitis Research Group at Pwani University
- Contribute to the understanding of inflammatory disorders of the intestine
