Research Area: Analytical Biogeochemistry with a focus on microbe-mineral-organic matter interactions in soils and sediments.
Location: Lausanne Mouline (Geopolis Building), Switzerland
Eligibility/Qualification:
- Doctoral degree in biogeochemistry, geochemistry, environmental chemistry, or related environmental field with an analytical chemistry focus.
- Extensive experience in applying spectroscopic, imaging, or (micro)sensor techniques to understand dynamic biogeochemical processes in environmental systems.
- Strong interest in developing new analytical and experimental approaches for biogeochemical research.
- Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary biogeosciences unit.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English; working knowledge of French is not necessary but desirable.
Job Description: The Senior Scientist will:
- Develop novel spectroscopic, microscopic, or (micro)sensor approaches to understand microbe-mineral-organic matter interactions.
- Maintain advanced analytical tools in the biogeosciences laboratories.
- Conduct independent research, collaborate on scientific projects, and innovate methods.
- Train and support laboratory users.
- Provide teaching support for courses related to advanced analytical biogeochemistry.
